Southern Heat Exchanger Corporation, a local metal fabricator and leader in the Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger Industry for 50 years, is currently looking to fill the following position for our second shift operation. Operations include welding, fitting and machining. Southern Heat Exchanger is a part of the NDA Group based in Hamilton, New Zealand and has plants in Tuscaloosa, Houston, New Zealand, and Australia.

Welder

Primary responsibilities will include:
  • Complete all welding on sub-assemblies and complete heat exchangers
  • Read prints to determine weld types
  • May be required to in other areas of production
  • Ensure a clean and safe work area
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Be an active participant in the SHECO quality assurance program

The successful candidate should have several years of fitting experience. The candidate should be highly motivated and results oriented to contribute in a team environment and have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. This position will report to a supervisor and compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Human Resources Administrator

Southern Heat Exchanger Services Inc., a dynamic, industry leading manufacturer of Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Administrator in Houston, TX. Southern Heat Exchanger Services is a division of the NDA Group based in Hamilton, New Zealand and has plants in Tuscaloosa, Houston, New Zealand and Australia.

The selected candidate will join a growing organization as a member of the HR Team in Houston. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing recruitment effort for all non-exempt personnel
  • Assisting department in carrying out various programs, policies and procedures for all site employees
  • Assisting with the administration of all company benefit programs
  • Directing safety initiatives including forming and leading a safety committee
  • HR, Safety and Environmental site reporting
  • Conducting and/or coordinating location training needs
  • Maintaining Human Resource database system and files

The successful candidate must have three to five years experience in the HR field. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred and a bachelor's degree or PHR certification is a plus. The candidate should be highly motivated and results oriented to contribute in a team environment. An understanding of employment laws and HR regulations, and proficiency in Microsoft Office is also required. The successful candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and be comfortable interacting with employees at all levels of the organization. This position will report to the Accounting/Human Resources Manager and compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Sales Engineer

Southern Heat Exchanger Services Inc., a dynamic, industry leading manufacturer of Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers has an immediate opening for a Sales Engineer in Houston, TX. Southern Heat Exchanger Services is a division of the NDA Group based in Hamilton, New Zealand and has plants in Tuscaloosa, Houston, New Zealand and Australia.

The selected candidate will join a growing organization as a vital and strategic member of the Sales Engineering Team in Houston. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to join a worldwide organization with a proven industry track record.

The primary responsibility of this position will be to respond to customer requests for quotations to fabricate or repair heat exchangers. This will involve the following tasks:

  • Front end engineering including mechanical and thermal sizing
  • Estimating labor hours and material costs for exchanger production
  • Analyzing and evaluating customer requirements and specifications
  • Working with customers to develop solutions and viable alternatives
  • Developing proposals to match customers needs

The Sales Engineer will also work with customers and our manufacturing teams as a Project Manager once orders are taken to see that they are properly completed and implemented, both in the shop and in the field. The candidate will team with engineering, purchasing, quality assurance, and production to manage fabrication and ensure scheduling after order is accepted. The Sales Engineer will be the customerís primary contact during production.

The successful candidate must have a Bachelors degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and 2-5 years experience. Fabrication experience is preferred but not required. The candidate must be highly motivated, results oriented and a self-starter to perform in a team environment under a minimum of supervision. The candidate should be thorough and detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills and abilities. An ability to correctly choose between competing priorities and to successfully manage multiple projects is also needed. The candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and be comfortable interacting with customers both in person and over the phone. This position will report to the Sales and Engineering Manager and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
